Installation & Wiring Guide
The 1790-0V16X mounts on a DIN rail. For sinking outputs, connect your Field Power 24V DC positive (+) to terminals COM0 and COM2. Connect the Field Power negative (-) or GND to terminals COM1 and COM3. Connect your loads (like a solenoid valve) between the output terminal and the Field Power positive (+). Always ensure the total current for each common group does not exceed 4.0 Amps.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What does "sinking output" mean?
A sinking output (also called NPN) acts like a switch to ground. When active, it connects the load wire to the negative side (GND) of the power supply to complete the circuit and turn the device on.
Can I connect an inductive load like a solenoid?
Yes, but for best reliability and to protect the module, you should use a flyback diode across the solenoid coil. This absorbs the voltage spike created when the output turns off.
How do I set the DeviceNet node address?
This module uses rotary switches on its side to set the unique DeviceNet node address (MAC ID) and communication baud rate (125K, 250K, 500K).
What happens if I exceed the 4A per common current limit?
Exceeding the current limit may cause the module to overheat, damage internal components, or shut down. Always calculate your total load current per common group during design.
Is this module suitable for outdoor use?
The standard 1790-0V16X has a IP20 rating, meaning it is for indoor use only. For harsh environments, you would need a higher IP67 rated module from the ArmorBlock MaXum series.
