Allen-Bradley 1790-T0B16X - 16-Channel Sourcing DC Output Module with Terminal Block

Deploy reliable distributed control with the Allen-Bradley 1790-T0B16X. This robust ArmorBlock module provides 16 sourcing (PNP) digital outputs for your DeviceNet network. Designed for easy wiring with its screw terminal block, it delivers 0.5A per point to drive a wide range of actuators like solenoid valves, contactors, and pilot lights. With individual status LEDs and high isolation, it's built for clarity and durability in industrial applications.

Key Advantages

  • Easy Screw-Terminal Wiring: Features a sturdy terminal block for simple, secure connections without special connectors, reducing installation time and cost.
  • High-Density Sourcing Outputs: Provides 16 PNP-style outputs in one compact unit, perfect for controlling multiple devices that require a positive voltage signal.
  • Excellent Visual Feedback: Each of the 16 outputs has a dedicated green LED that lights when active, making circuit status visible at a glance.
  • Industrial Strength Isolation: 1250V AC photocoupler isolation protects the sensitive DeviceNet network from electrical noise and surges on the load side.

Installation & Wiring Guide

Mount the 1790-T0B16X on a DIN rail. Connect your external 24V DC field power supply. For sourcing outputs, wire one side of your load (e.g., a relay coil) to the positive (+) of your field power. Connect the other side of the load to the module's output terminal. The module's internal switch will then provide the path to common (-) when activated. Remember: the total current drawn by all outputs sharing one common must not exceed 4.0 Amps.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is the benefit of a sourcing (PNP) output?

Sourcing outputs supply positive voltage to the load. They are commonly used in regions with PNP-standard sensors and can simplify wiring in systems where the common line is connected to ground.

Can I connect an inductive load directly?

Yes, but for reliability, always use a suppression diode or varistor across inductive loads like solenoid coils. This protects the module's output transistor from voltage spikes when the load is turned off.

How do I set the network address?

The module has rotary switches on its housing to set the DeviceNet Node Address (MAC ID from 0-63) and the Communication Baud Rate (125K, 250K, or 500K).

What does "8 points/8 COM" mean for common type?

It means the 16 outputs are divided into two groups of 8. Each group has its own common terminal. You must connect the common for each group, and the 4.0A current limit applies separately to each group.

Is the terminal block removable?

Typically, the terminal block on ArmorBlock modules is integrated and not designed for frequent removal. Always ensure power is off before making or changing wiring connections.
