Install one 6ES7460-1BA01-0AB0 IM 460-1 module in the central S7-400 CPU rack. In each expansion rack, install an IM 461-1 receiver module. Connect them using the designated 468-1 interface cables. Set the address on each receiver module (0 to 3). The central rack's CPU will automatically recognize the expansion I/O. Note: This module pair (460-1/461-1) does not extend the communication bus, so communication modules (CPs, FMs) must reside in the central rack.

What is the difference between IM 460-1 and IM 460-0?
The IM 460-1 (this module) transfers 5V power to the expansion racks. The IM 460-0 does not transfer power, meaning each expansion rack must have its own separate power supply module.
How many expansion racks can I connect?
You can connect a maximum of 4 expansion racks using one IM 460-1 sender paired with IM 461-1 receivers.
What does "without C bus" mean?
It means the communication bus (C-bus), used by communication (CP) and function (FM) modules, is not extended to the expansion racks. Therefore, CP and FM modules can only be installed in the central controller rack.
What cables do I need?
You need Siemens-specific 468-1 interface cables to connect the sender module to the receiver modules. The maximum total cable length from the first to the last module in the chain is 1.5 meters.
Can I mix different IM types in one system?
