WAGO 750-494 3-Phase Power Measurement Module

Monitor energy usage with precision. The WAGO 750-494 is a compact, 3-phase power measurement module for WAGO I/O systems. It provides detailed electrical data, including harmonics, for energy management and equipment protection.

Key Features

  • Comprehensive Measurement: Measures voltage, current, power (active, reactive, apparent), energy, power factor, frequency, and harmonics up to the 41st order.
  • High Accuracy: True RMS measurement with a maximum error of 0.5% of the upper-range value.
  • Industrial Voltage Ready: Rated for 480V AC line-to-line and 277V AC line-to-neutral systems.
  • High Safety Isolation: 4 kV isolation between field wiring and the control system for safety and noise immunity.
  • Compact & Integrated: Fits in a standard 12mm wide module slot on a DIN rail, saving panel space.

Installation & Wiring

Install the 750-494 module in a WAGO I/O SYSTEM terminal block on a DIN rail. For voltage measurement, connect the three phase voltages (L1, L2, L3) and neutral (if used) to the designated voltage input terminals. For current measurement, connect the secondary sides of three 1A current transformers (CTs) on each phase to the current input terminals. Ensure proper polarity and that CTs are never opened while under load. The module receives 5V logic power via the backplane from the coupler.

Expert FAQs

Do I need external current transformers (CTs)?
Yes. The module accepts a maximum of 1A input. You must use external current transformers (CTs) with a 1A secondary rating to scale down the primary motor or line current.

What is the benefit of harmonic analysis?
It helps identify power quality issues that can cause overheating in motors and transformers, trip breakers, and interfere with sensitive electronics, allowing for corrective action.

Can it measure DC systems?
It is designed for AC measurement (45-65Hz). The voltage inputs can tolerate 277V DC, but the module will not provide accurate power measurements for DC circuits.

How is the data accessed?
The module is part of a WAGO I/O station connected to a fieldbus (e.g., PROFINET, EtherCAT). All measured and calculated values are mapped into the process image and read by the central PLC or SCADA system.

What is the typical application?
Monitoring energy consumption of machines, buildings, or production lines; power quality analysis; predictive maintenance by tracking load profiles; sub-metering for cost allocation.
